Focus and Scope

Jurnal Pendidik Indonesia (JPI) publishes scholarly work in education. Its focus and scope are defined by the aims, areas of coverage, and relevance criteria below. Each manuscript should make its educational question, context, and contribution clear.

1. Aims

JPI aims to advance educational knowledge and practice by disseminating research and scholarly analysis on teaching, learning, curriculum, assessment, and educational systems. The journal provides a forum for researchers, educators, and practitioners to examine educational problems and communicate findings that are relevant to their stated contexts.

2. Areas of Coverage

The journal's scope includes the following interconnected areas in primary, secondary, and higher education:

  • Teaching and learning: instructional approaches, learning processes, classroom practice, and learning environments.
  • Curriculum, assessment, and evaluation: curriculum design and implementation, assessment of learning, feedback, and evaluation of educational programmes.
  • Subject-specific education: teaching and learning in mathematics, science, social studies, languages, and related fields.
  • Educational technology and learning resources: instructional media, digital tools, online learning, AI, and other technologies examined in an educational context.
  • Inclusive and equitable education: accessibility, learner diversity, participation, and support for learners with different needs.
  • Teacher education and professional development: preparation, competence, professional learning, and instructional practice of prospective and practising educators.
  • Educational leadership and policy: educational management, institutional practice, policy implementation, and their implications for education.
  • Interdisciplinary educational research: work that draws on other disciplines while keeping an educational problem and contribution central.

3. Scope Relevance

A manuscript must establish a substantive connection to education. Studies of mathematics, science, technology, language, or social issues are within scope when teaching, learning, curriculum, assessment, educational practice, or educational policy is central to the inquiry. Work focused solely on disciplinary content, a technical product, or a general social issue without a clear educational question and contribution is outside the journal's scope.

The editor checks scope relevance during initial screening. This check does not constitute acceptance. Case studies and action research may be considered as research designs where relevant; manuscript categories and submission requirements are described in Manuscript Types and the Author Guidelines.
