Publication Ethics

The Jurnal Pendidik Indonesia is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in publishing. The following ethical guidelines are designed to ensure the integrity, transparency, and fairness of the publication process. All parties involved—editors, reviewers, and authors—are expected to uphold these standards. This journal adopts the ethical guidelines set by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure best practices in publication ethics and integrity.

1. Editor's Responsibilities

  1. Publication Decisions: The Editor is responsible for deciding which articles should be published in the journal. Decisions are guided by the journal's editorial board policies and constrained by legal requirements regarding defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. Consultation with other editors or reviewers may be sought in making these decisions.
  2. Fairness: Manuscripts are evaluated based on intellectual content without regard to the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.
  3. Confidentiality: Information about submitted manuscripts must not be disclosed to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, editorial advisers, and the publisher, as deemed necessary.
  4. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used by the Editor for their own research without the author's written consent.

2. Reviewer's Responsibilities

  1. Contributions to Decision Making: Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and helps authors improve their manuscripts.
  2. Timeliness: Reviewers who feel unqualified or unable to review a manuscript in a timely manner should notify the editor and withdraw from the review process.
  3. Confidentiality: Manuscripts under review are confidential documents and must not be shared or discussed with others without the editor's permission.
  4. Standards of Objectivity: Reviews should be conducted objectively, with no personal criticism of the author. Reviewers should provide clear, supported arguments for their opinions.
  5. Recognition of Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant works not cited by the author. Any statement that has been previously reported should be accompanied by a citation. Reviewers should inform the editor of any significant overlap or similarity between the manuscript under review and other published work.
  6. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Information obtained through peer review must remain confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers must not review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest with any authors, companies, or institutions.

3. Author's Responsibilities

  1. Reporting Standards: Authors must present an accurate account of their research, with sufficient detail and references to allow others to replicate the work. Fabrication, falsification, or knowingly inaccurate statements are unethical and unacceptable.
  2. Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure their work is original. If using the work or words of others, proper citation or quotation must be provided.
  3. Duplicate, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication: Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal or publish manuscripts describing the same research in multiple publications.
  4. Acknowledgment of Sources: Proper acknowledgment of others' work is required. Authors must cite publications that influenced their research.
  5. Authorship of the Manuscript: Authorship should include only those who significantly contributed to the research. All co-authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission.
  6. Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or substantive conflicts of interest that could influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of funding should also be disclosed.
  7. Fundamental Errors in Published Works: Authors must promptly notify the editor of any significant errors in their published work and cooperate to retract or correct the paper.

The above ethical statements aim to ensure the integrity, transparency, and fairness in the process of scientific writing and publication. The Jurnal Pendidik Indonesia adheres to COPE guidelines and expects all involved parties—editors, reviewers, and authors—to uphold the highest ethical standards in their roles.
